The Humane Society of Stillwater operates a NO-KILL nonprofit shelter that exists
on donations from the public. We house dogs and cats here until they are adopted
permanently into good homes. The Humane Society shares a building with the City
Animal Welfare shelter, and aids in the adoption of animals there. Stillwater's
Animal Welfare division can only hold animals for a limited time period; at the
end of that period, they are euthanized. Whenever space is available, the Humane
Society takes in those animals that are at risk of being euthanized.
